Blogging hiatus
30Mar06
I’ve been on a blogging hiatus recently. I’ve been focused on other things, so this is one of my activities that has fallen behind. Here’s an attempt to ease back into a groove.
Monday night we had another Emmaus Road cohort meeting on Monday night. It was another encouraging gathering with some new folks and some participants (Luke and Andrew) who came up from Salinas. I really have to give it to them for driving up.
Caroline facilitated a discussion on community and urban monasticism. This conversation generated a lot of interest. There seem to be a critical mass of folks present who are all exploring different expressions of intentional community depending on their circumstances. There were also several participants who are seeking ways to live out their vocation outside of the church or to use skills they have developed to fund their vocation. There seems to be a real estate theme… one fellow recently purchased a “fixeruper” to resell for a profit and another started learning more about real estate development. Both recently started these journeys after working in churches for several years. I look forward to hearing updates from them both next month. Maybe someday we’ll all be neighbors in the city.
I’m posting this entry using Qumana. This is my first post using this blogging software. I’m curious to see how it will work out. I have a markup package installed that tends to interfere with any external apps I’ve tried for posting. I haven’t spent too much time trying to figure out how to get them to play nicely. We’ll see how this goes.
