There is a good article about global warming over at CT. The article shares some of the thoughts of physicist Sir John Houghton.

Reading that article reminds me that we westerners have some major moral dilemmas to tackle with respect to our behavior and how it affects the environment. One author I’ve read recent drew a parallel between the Canaanite and Phoenician god moloch to whom parents sacrificed their children and our stewardship of creation.

It seems that when it comes to taking care of the earth we have put our faith in science and technology. I don’t remember the quote exactly, but in the last state of the union address, when the president mentioned our addiction to oil, the main thrust of the solution to that addiction was technology. My hunch is that technology will go a long way in helping to solve our problems when it comes to scarce resources and the degradation of the environment, but it won’t do much for the other 2/3rds of the world (who will probably be most affected by climate change) that won’t have access to or might only marginally benefit from the technology.

Thoughts?

I think 8 years old Isabel can tell us something about global warming as well. As far as she is concern, we are a part of the movement to do and learn something about it.
