Over the weekend of April 7th and 8th, Alice planned a surprise birthday trip for me. She arranged a trip to Kansas city to see my brother and his wife. We were met there by my parents. All a surprise.
I didn’t know where we were going until she handed me the boarding pass in the San Jose airport. I found out the night before that we where flying somewhere, but I had no idea where. I didn’t know that my parents would be there either. I scooped that accidentally by calling my parents house to get directions to my brother’s house.
Our flight was delayed, so we were considering renting a car and driving to my brother’s house instead of having him to come and pick us up so late. In the midst of our scramble to find a rental car in Kansas that would be available at 2am, I thought we might also need directions so I called my parents. A strange voice answered and said “the Snyder’s.” To Alice’s frustration I knew almost immediately what was up– they were meeting us in Kansas. Sweet.
Scot and Pop picked us up at the airport. We arrived at Scot’s house at around 3am. Mom was waiting for us on the couch– just like old times when we where teenagers coming home late.
Alice had told me that she was taking me on a surprise trip for my birthday. Since we have been talking more about getting married, I really wanted to reverse the surprise on her and propose to her over this week end. I almost didn’t have the ring in time for the weekend. I had to get it resized for her and we were down to the minute. I was able to get it just before I left to meet her at the airport.
The proposal wasn’t elaborate. I asked her to marry me. I can’t wait to be her husband. Below are some pictures from the weekend. Here is the newly engaged couple.
The guys of the family… in uniform. Odd that we where all wearing jeans and a white shirt.
Here is Mom, Adlee, and Alice relaxing on the deck. Kansas is beautiful this time of year.
If you want to see all the pictures from the trip, check out my flickr account. I also posted a few pictures from the Thursday birthday part at house F (the name we have for our house).
